#SaaS software product development initially focuses on releasing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). To get there, #SaaSleaders, both product, executive, engineering, require three hurdles to be cleared first. 1) What is MVP, you shared vision, validated by early adopters (what is an early adopter program?) 2) Visibility into product development. (as a #SaaSLeader, do you know when important releases will happen) and 3) a clear, executable plan for release to the market. (build it and they will come? never works).

Getting to MVP can be illusive. It requires a shared vision and execution of the product roadmap as well as a crystal clear connection to your market. Only the market can decide MVP. I have drawn this simple graphic many times. There is the plan, and then there is reality. Making the reality line conform to the plan line comes with frequent market feedback and transparency in product development. Is your product development on track? I can help.

Visibility into product development from the initial stages of product visioning all the way to commercial release has many benefits: 1) velocity of development, 2) prioritization of features, 3) allocation of budget.. and many more. I teach a process that puts transparency and goal achievement as two core principles of SaaS Software development. (want to learn more?). Creating good habits around this process helps executives, product, marketing and engineering meet and collaborate to build better products.

Last but not least, going to market in a way that optimizes the opportunity and maximizes the revenue potential of the product. More on that in my next blog..
