Estimating complexity is important, as long as the teams are given the chance to re-estimate (stand-ups) and learn from sprint retro. In “Advance Planning” I teach a method to put stories on a schedule. Engineers/Product can then spot inter and intra team dependencies and gates, and plan accordingly. When mastered, the result is velocity, job satisfaction, and increased predictability. Aren’t those the goals of story points?
